English language tests
Most colleges ask international students to prove their English, usually with TOEFL, the Duolingo English Test or a similar exam. Each college sets its own minimum score.
SAT and ACT
Many colleges have made the SAT or ACT optional, but some still ask for it, and a good score can raise academic scholarships. Check the rules of the colleges on your list.
Grades and the NCAA Eligibility Center
Your school grades matter. To compete at NCAA Division I or II you must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, which checks your school courses and amateur status.
Start early
Plan tests at least a few months before applications, so there is time to retake them if needed.
