FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers to the questions athletes and parents ask us most about sports scholarships in the USA.
What is a sports scholarship in the USA?
A sports scholarship fully or partially covers tuition, housing, meals and books at a US university or college, so you can keep competing at a high level while earning a US degree.
Who can get a sports scholarship?
Athletes who have finished secondary school, or who are already studying at a university at home and want to continue in the USA. Your sporting level, grades and English all matter.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the college and the size of the scholarship. Even with a full scholarship, plan for flights, insurance, the visa and personal spending.
Which sports are covered?
All sports offered at US colleges — from soccer, basketball, tennis and swimming to track and field, ice hockey, golf, rowing and many more.
What are NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA?
They are the US college sports associations. NCAA Division I and II, NAIA and junior colleges (NJCAA) award athletic scholarships; NCAA Division III does not, but offers other financial aid.
Do I need to speak perfect English?
No, but most colleges ask for an English test such as TOEFL or the Duolingo English Test. Your English will improve quickly once you are there.
Do I need the SAT?
Many colleges have made it optional, but some still require it, and a good score can increase academic scholarships.
When should I start?
Ideally one and a half to two years before you want to start studying. The US academic year usually begins in August.
Can I study and compete at the same time?
Yes. US colleges are built for student-athletes: training, competitions, classes and academic support are planned together.
How do you help?
We help you choose suitable universities, contact coaches, prepare documents and compare offers, so you can focus on studying and training.
