NCAA Division I and II

The NCAA is the largest college sports association. Division I has the biggest programmes and the highest level; Division II is also strong and often offers a good balance of sport and studies. Both award athletic scholarships.

NCAA Division III

Division III colleges do not award athletic scholarships, but they can offer academic and other financial aid. They suit athletes who put studies first.

NAIA

The NAIA is a separate association of mostly smaller colleges. It awards athletic scholarships and often has more flexible admission rules.

NJCAA — junior colleges

Junior colleges offer two-year programmes. Many athletes start there, improve their grades and level, and then transfer to a four-year university.
